About The Business
Apparel & Textiles
SYLA Swim is a Glasgow-based swimwear brand founded by designer Niamh Cochrane. Its debut Landscape collection draws on the colours and character of Scotland, pairing expressive design with versatile swimwear. The brand presents its approach around confidence, considered materials and pieces designed to be worn beyond a single season.
The Challenges The Business Faced
The obstacles that Modemkiller would help overcome:
SYLA Swim needed a storefront that made its short, shared name unmistakably about Scottish-inspired swimwear while giving shoppers a clear route into the collection. Niamh, a designer herself, wanted to guide its look closely rather than hand over the visual decisions. The implementation also had to support scalable product identifiers, practical stock management across selling systems, and clear customer policies that would build trust.

Engagement Scope & Project Goals
Collaborative ecommerce website design and implementation
- Give SYLA Swim a distinctive destination that clearly identifies it as a swimwear brand.
- Develop the visual experience collaboratively, with Niamh closely guiding and reviewing the direction.
- Translate its Scottish inspiration into a coherent shopping experience.
- Connect the brand story to the Landscape collection and individual products.
- Present sizing, materials, delivery and customer-policy information clearly.
- Establish SKU and stock-management foundations that can scale with the business.
Key Impacts & Successes
A Distinct Place in Search
“SYLA” is a name shared with unrelated organisations, and similar names appear in fashion and swimwear results. Yet when people search for SYLA alongside swimwear terms, the brand's own website is clearly identifiable — leading them directly to its story, collection and products.

From Brand Proposition to Discoverable Storefront
Niamh wanted to be hands-on with the developing look of the site. Modemkiller made room for frequent face-to-face reviews so she could guide and assess the direction as it took shape. That collaboration carried her vision through the brand story, collection presentation and practical shopping journey.
Implementation Rationale
An Ecommerce System for the Growing Range of SYLA Swimwear
Wix Studio provides the framework for SYLA Swim's image-led presentation and iterative design reviews, while Wix Stores supports the catalogue and online purchase flow. Clear brand-and-category language helps distinguish SYLA Swim from other uses of the name. Scalable SKU patterns and stock-management workflows support the current Landscape collection and future additions to the range.

The Role of Artificial Intelligence
AI Used Selectively & With Clear Constraints.
Human-led creative direction, bounded operational assistance.
In keeping with SYLA Swim's sustainability-minded approach, AI was used sparingly rather than as a substitute for Niamh's design judgement. It assisted with scalable SKU patterns and the setup of stock-management workflows across the software and commerce systems used at launch. It also helped organise first drafts of specialist customer-policy documents. These were bounded support tasks; creative direction and decisions about the final site remained human-led.
